__________Undoctrinate Yourself__________

Hosted by Dr. Alexis Cowan PhD, the Undoctrinate Yourself podcast is dedicated to the honest exploration of topics across science, philosophy, and spirituality. Our mission is to support the dissemination of high quality, non-dogmatic, and thoughtful information to both professionals within science and medicine as well as to the lay public.

We believe that, with the right information, all individuals can be empowered to take responsibility for their health and lives, and exercise their right to informed consent across all domains.

We believe that the reclamation of the sovereignty of individuals is essential for the future of our species and planet, and that this is facilitated by undoctrination and re-education from the bottom up.

in·doc·tri·nate

/inˈdäktrəˌnāt/

“to imbue an idea; to teach one to accept a set of beliefs uncritically”

In our “education” system, indoctrination has become the status quo.

Newton’s third law of thermodynamics states that “for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction”.  We created this podcast to serve as an equal and opposite force to counterbalance our society’s inability to table biases, critically think, admit wrong doings, and take accountability and responsibility for what we are creating in our reality.

To conceptualize this movement, we need new terminology:

un·doc·tri·nate

/ənˈdäktrəˌnāt/

“to extract the unappraised ideas previously perfused into one’s mind”

This podcast is called Undoctrinate Yourself because no one can facilitate this process but you. Undoctrination is the active process of examining your beliefs, biases, and preconceptions in earnest, and disposing of those that do not serve you. This can be a painful and destabilizing process. However, without this level of honesty with self, we can never actualize our potential, and the pain of regret will always be greater than the pain of growth.

I honor you for your willingness to confront what is uncomfortable. We can only be reborn if we are willing to shed our skin.
